11 Steps For Generating A D&D Player Character

1. Roll 4 d6 separately 6 times (there are 6 stats on a character sheet).
2. Of the 4 d6, erase the lowest roll.
3. Add together the remaining 3 d6 rolls.
4. If the grand total result is NOT 8 or higher, the player must re-roll until the grand total result is 8 or higher.
5. If all 6 stat results are generated for the player and their grand total stat bonuses is NOT +2 or higher, the player must re-roll all the stats again.
6. Once all 6 stats are generated, the player begins customisation and may assign each roll total to a stat.
7. The player then chooses a race to further customise their stats (as each race has a stat bonus).
8. If applicable, the player then adds any level stat increases.
9. The player then chooses a class.
10. The player then chooses a background.
11. The player then writes a backstory.
